Norway’s Stave Churches

During the 11th and 12th centuries, stave churches were built throughout Northern Europe. Their distinctive wooden frames and architectural style are derivatives of the palisade style of buildings from the Viking age. Most of the surviving churches can be found in Norway. Here are a few of the stave churches that we visited throughout the beautiful country.
